I normally use a granular insecticide for ant control and get immediate kill in a few days. How long does the Cedar Block take to work?
A granular insecticide must be watered to begin working. The ant must capture the pesticide on their body and at the time of grooming, they ingest the pesticide, then die. This all takes a period of 1-4 days. This is the toxic method of ant eradication and only lasts for a set period of time before the pesticide has lost its potency to keep future ant populations from arising. Cedar Block is only a repellant, it does not kill the ants; rather, it confuses the ant colony so that the ants cease to be able to live inside the cedar granule environment. If you have an active population of ants, we recommend the doubling the concentration of the Cedar Block. Simply apply it twice over the areas needed for coverage. The Cedar Block does not need to be watered to begin working. As a matter of fact, as soon as you spread the non-toxic cedar granules out over the lawn and flowerbed areas, it immediately begins working. You will notice a smaller and smaller population of ants in the treated areas
