I need to plot and analyse some data. What is available?
There are a wealth of programs available on our systems for doing this; we shall concentrate on just a couple here. On the Windows computers (and the Windows terminal server) you can use Origin Pro. Additionally you can download a copy of Origin for use on your home PC (Windows , accessible only from the University network). Note that we are currently having some issues with a upgrade in our software download website. Until this is resolved, log on to a windows PC on the teaching course and copy the following files S:\Origin81\Origin81Installer.exe and S:\Origin81\License Info.txt to your memory stick. Then run Origin81Installer.exe on your own PC, the serial number is in License Info.txt. Use the home use serial number. On the Apple Mac system you can either use gnuplot. This is freely available for Mac, Windows and Linux systems for you to install at home. We also have Igor Pro installed on the Apple Mac system.
