The easiest way to calculate strata removal is to use several stages. • Enter the original ground as usual. • Convert the top depths of the first strata layer to elevations and enter the top of the first strata layer as DESIGN, not strata. • Calculate the job and print the volumes. You now know how much original ground to remove to get to the TOP of the strata layer. • Save the job. Select Job, Modules, Stage Design. • Enter a new name for the job, e.g. First Stage. • Select Stage, Stage Existing. This turns the design (top of the strata layer) into original ground. • Select Job, Return to SW (return to Sitework). • Convert the depths for the top of the next strata layer (or bottom of the first strata layer) to elevations and enter them as DESIGN. • Calculate the job and print the volumes. You now know how much strata you will need to remove in the first strata layer. • Repeat steps 4 9 for as many strata layers as you need to remove. The final step would be to enter the actual design.
