I m getting a “Buffer Miscompare” error when I try to run the Host Adapter Diagnostic utility. What does this mean?
This could mean that you have a DMA channel conflict with another card in the system. Document all the settings of every card/device that uses an IRQ, DMA channel, or I/O port address and compare these settings to the ones on the Adaptec card supplied. If there is a DMA conflict, change the DMA channel on the 1535 card to an unused channel. See the AHA-1535 quick reference guide for details on how to change the SCSI card settings. Another possibility is, you may be dealing with a motherboard that doesn’t support Bus Mastering. Not all PC s support Bus-Mastering. For example, Gateway 2000 P5-133 only has 1 bus mastering slot, which is usually occupied by the video adapter. If the AHA-1535 card is installed in a non bus-mastering slot in this machine, the system may hang when trying to access a CD from the RCD drive.
