Oh so many reasons :). One is that (in our opinion) major record labels and major terrestrial broadcasters have always had a very tight relationship in servicing music (and in the past or even presently, something called (gasp) payola…you decide!) Some people MAY even believe this is what really decides what music actually gets played on the major radio stations (big surprise). The truth is if you are a Program Director or a DJ at a terrestrial radio station…you really, probably, (again, in our opinion), do not get to choose what songs to play. There has also been tremendous consolidation in terrestrial radio so now, there are only a few major players controlling the playlists. Here’s something else and you might find it hard to believe, but since radio stations need constant ratings, they often choose their new songs from a tight selection of ‘what lights up the phones,’ and if there isn’t an actual level of familiarity already with the audience (i.e. American Idol, relationship w
