I love making shakes at home. What are some ideas of what I can use?
You’ve asked the right girl, because I love making shakes!! Here are just a few ideas to get your wheels turning: I use fruit in my shakes sometimes, & tend to add various berries, melon, lemons & limes … as long as a fruit is low-glycemic, I’ll use it! Tofu is a great add-in to add both girth and volume to a shake, & some brands bear only 4 total carbohydrates for the entire 12-ounce block. Woohoo! (Of course you only need half or less of the block for one shake, & even that’s a ton.) There are so many more things to add to a shake to make it great. Coconut oil (has a butter consistency), coconut cream, those 3-ounce cream cheese cubes, various oils like macadamia nut, of course Eggbeaters (use raw eggs at your own risk), protein powders, psyllium husk granules, soy milk, flax seed meal … If any of these ingredients sound unfamiliar or you can’t find them at an ordinary supermarket, try your local health food stores or the Internet!
