Unfortunately, this is something that your attorney should have taken care of so that you would be protected financially. Some people have mentioned a Quitclaim Deed. Please be aware that with a Quitclaim Deed, you are only signing over your INTEREST in the property. A Quitclaim Deed will NOT protect you financially. With a Quitclaim Deed, you are still legally responsible for the payments on that property. Your best bet would be to try and get your ex to sell the house and split the money with you, or like you mentioned, get him to refinance the property in his name only.
