I keep on seeing ACE on my graded homework. What is an ACE response?
ACE stands for A- Answer, C- Cite examples from the text, and E- Explain the connection between your answer and the example. All three elements are needed to get full credit for a brief constructed response. Here’s a hint, most people lose points for forgetting to reference the text or explain the connection. Use three different colored highlighters. Use one color to highlight the sentence that answers the question. Use the second color to highlight the sentence or two that references the text. Use the third color to highlight the sentences where you connect the textual reference to your answer. VOILA! An ACE response!
