FC1025.5 requires that bars placed over windows and other openings onto fire escapes be of a type for which a certificate of approval has been issued by the Fire Department. A list of currently approved gates can be obtained by contacting the Bureau of Fire Preventions Technology Management Unit at (718) 999-2391.
