I bet there were posted signs and the side of the curb was marked by a different color and there may have even been some sort of symbol on the pavement to indicate you were in a bus zone. In all fairness, I surmise you were distracted by the fact you were picking up a passenger, and you being from out of town was probably a factor too. It’s been my experience that these areas are typically marked, especially in a large metropolitan area. It also sounds like the cop gave you a break, so thinking he’s as *** is a bit harsh. He has a job to do, just like you. You can try contesting the ticket, if you do I suggest you plea no contest, and ask that the ticket be deferred on the condition you don’t receive any citations in the next 30 days (from when you need to go to court). Pay the court costs, if you contest and lose it will cost you a lot more.
