I just got a new MATE with a new serial number. Will WattPlot still work?
The truth is that WattPlot has no way to determine the serial number of you OutBack Power Technologies Mate display controller. The information isn’t available in any of the data provided by the Mate display controller. Licensing is based on hardware identifiers that are retrived from the operating system, including the hard drive where the software is installed. If your hard drive goes bad unexpectedly, you’ll need a new license key. If you move the software to a new hard drive, you may need a new license key. And if you request too many replacement software license keys, Intallact may refuse to provide you with a new one.
At greenHouse Computers we have a different approach. No convoluted or highly restrictive license keys that make it harder for you to use software you’ve already paid for. Software is downloaded using a user name and password we provide you with at the time you purchased the software. If your hard drive fails, you download and reinstall. No need to contact us and tells us about your misfortune, as with Intallact.
