I just bought PSO but for some reason, the game will not play on my Dreamcast. Whats wrong?
Initially, the problem was linked to Dreamcasts manufactured in certain geographical regions (in this case China), however, new reports from readers have indicated that the problem may be more specific, as many have had no such troubles with PSO on their Chinese systems. We’ve also received reports that the problem may have something to do with GD-ROM drives themselves. Though we have no confirmation at this point, it seems that some drives were manufactured slightly off-spec, and that this is the actual cause of the problem. However, it should be noted that Sega of America claims that have encountered no such functionality issues with Phantasy Star Online during their internal tests to seek out this user-reported failure, and thus have little clue as to what is causing the problem. Obviously, this prevents them from offering a solution/explanation, but we will update you should any new information surface.
