I just bought a Spyder III Arctic. What is the white stuff around the LASER diode?

0

A. The white substance is a heat-conducting grease used to make the thermal conductivity between the diode case and the LASER housing more efficient. DO NOT remove this substance, and be careful NOT to get any of it on any of the optical components such as the LASER diode window, or the accessory lenses – it is very difficult to remove. Use our lens cleaner solution to clean this stuff off if you’ve gotten it on your LASER’s optics.
