The default behavior of CmapTools allows to run multiple instances of the program simultaneosly in the same computer as long as they are executed by different users (i.e., people that logs in to that computer using different login names). Even though it is not recommended, if for any reason you would like to run several instances of CmapTools under the same user (a generic user, for instance), you need to modify the file called “CmapTools.lax” which is found in the directory (folder) called “bin”, under the directory (folder) where the CmapTools program was installed. By default, in Windows this file is located in the directory (folder): C:\Program Files\IHMC CmapTools\bin Inside the file, using a text editor (e.g. NotePad, vi), locate the line that starts with lax.nl.java.option.additional In this line, please check if the following text exists: -DcheckForMultipleAppInstances=true It indicates to CmapTools whether to check for other instances running. Change the value from ‘true’ to ‘
