All of the extractors and other XTE specific tools except the perl scripts “timetrans” and “grosstimefilt” require that the input times be given in ABSOLUTE time. This is necessary because the value of the TIMEZERO keyword can change from input file to input file. Be very careful when processing multiple files and specifying filtering time-ranges. The extractors (as of 3.6) print out detailed information about all of the time-ranges that it has been supplied with and what those time-ranges are. If the user is getting a “no counts” message he should carefully examine the time-intervals being used for filtering compared to the actual time-ranges for the data in the files. You can use “timetrans” to convert relative times to absolute times related to a specific file. The absolute time is calculated by adding TIMEZERO and TSTART together to get the absolute time offset.
