No, that is not necessarily true. First, the blood you may have heard about is from the hymen breaking. The hymen is a small membrane which partially blocks the vagina (inside), but it can easily break from use of tampons, riding a bicycle or any other vigorous activity. If there is blood, it would be very slight, probably not even noticeable. Second, if there is pain, you may want to go slow, and get plenty of feedback from your partner.
