It’s true that on Aug. 23, the faculty voted unanimously to go on strike on September 6– if a new contract agreement is not in place. The faculty contract expires on September 5 at midnight. So there’s still time to get a new contract settled before the new term starts. But right now, there are no negotiations taking place. The 181 full-time faculty members who are represented in contract negotiations by the Cincinnati State AAUP have been trying since June to reach agreement on a new contract with the College administration and Board of Trustees. Many important issues are not yet resolved. On Aug. 23, the unresolved issues were presented to a neutral fact-finder appointed by the state. The fact-finder is writing a report that will give his non-binding recommendations on how to settle the contract. This report is expected to arrive by Sunday, Aug. 28. Then, the AAUP members and the College Board of Trustees must vote, within 7 days of receiving the report, to accept or reject the fact
