I heard that Nicaragua is the largest country in Central America. So, how many people live there and why isn’t it more popular?
A. Although Nicaragua is the largest Central American nation by land area it is the least densely populated. Almost 5.6 million people live in Nicaragua with about 54% in urban areas. Geography is a big part of the reason that the country is not more populous. Around 70% of the entire area is dominated by thick, uninhabitable rainforest. The landscaped also features several large rivers and volcanic mountains. As far as popularity among tourism goes, political turmoil once prevented it from becoming a hot spot. That is a thing of the past now. The government is stable and tourism has exploded in the last ten years.
