I heard that a change has been made in the curriculum (program requirements) for Agricultural Education. Can I choose to use the new program requirements?
A major change was made for new students that are enrolled in the fall 2004. Current students can change to the new curriculum if it works better for them. Some current students have already decided to change because it works better for them. If you choose to use the curriculum you have to follow all of the new rules. (You can’t use some from the new and some from the old.) It does eliminate ACCTG231, and either AGEC308 or AGEC318 (only need one), and IMSE250 & IMSE251. But it added HORT350 or HORT570 (instead of the general hort/agron requirement), and IMSE252 (welding), and there is much more structure to the 15 hours of (3 more than it was before) agricultural electives. The new curriculum guide is online at http://coe.ksu.edu/ageducation/programrequirements-new.html You can print it as a Word document or as a pdf file. There are also interactive pages that you can follow. (Hopefully it is fairly accurate.) Meet with your advisor before you make this decision.
