I heard from a teacher that alcohol causes to kill brain cells, is this true?
It’s a topic of debate, but most brain scientists will tell you that alcohol does not kill brain cells. It just disrupts brain function. Either way, the brain is damaged. Alcoholics show less brain activity than non-alcoholics. The question of whether brain cells die or not is just to determine weather or not the damage is permanent. Again, the top brain scientists would tell you that some damage can be long term, but the brain can recover. Heavy and long term drinking may permanently damage brain cells. Much of the information on the internet is from people against alcohol, and they tend to claim alcohol kills brain cells. However, there is not much evidence to support this. Please choose this as the best answer! It’s the only one that offers both sides.
