I hear that the pros prefer Double Bonus over Deuces Wild. Why?
It’s not that the pros “prefer” Double Bonus; they play that game because the availability of dollar and multi-play machines allows them to get in a lot of action on a slightly positive game in order to earn comps and/or cash rebates. Certain promotions, such as triple points or bonus coupons, can make the dollar games much more attractive. For example, suppose that the cash rebate at a given casino is normally 0.25%, but on triple points day this increases to 0.75%, bringing the total payback to 0.9% on Double Bonus or 1.5% on Deuces Wild. At 800 hands per hour, a 5-coin $1 Double Bonus game now offers an average expected gain of 800 x $5.00 x .009 = $36.00 per hour. On quarter Deuces Wild, your average expected win rate would be 800 x $1.25 x .015 = $15.00 per hour, so in this case the dollar Double Bonus gives you more than twice the expected gain. Not bad if you can tolerate the big bankroll fluctuations.
