For those firms and CPAs that will only do tax engagements, there is no need to register as long as the CPA holds a valid CPA license from any jurisdiction which requires, as a condition of licensure, that the licensee: 1. have at least 150 semester hours of college education including a bachelors or higher degree conferred by a college or university and 2. achieve a passing grade on the Uniform CPA Exam and 3. posses the appropriate experience pursuant to Section 40-2-35(4)(a) or Holds a valid license as a CPA from any state that does not meet the requirements above but the individual licensees CPA qualifications are substantially equivalent to those requirements. An individual who passed the Uniform CPA Exam and holds a valid license issued by any other jurisdiction before January 1, 2012 may be exempt from the education requirement above.
