I have young children and they need good education. How are the schools in Panama?

The public school system in Panama is on a reasonable level, comparable to that in the U.S. English is being taught as a second language. For ex-pats with a wish for a higher standard of education for their children, we recommend the many bilingual and full- English educational institutes that Panama offers, mainly in the bigger cities. For David, we can recommend the Cambridge Institute, where all classes are given in English, except Folklore, and of course, Spanish. This school offers excellent preparation for bilingual high schools, and is very reasonably priced. For 2004, the charges per child per month are $85.00, which does not include schoolbooks and supplies, nor the obligatory school uniforms. The latest addition to the full- English schools in David is American School, located in the residential neighborhood “El Terronal”. All classes are given in English; there is a lot of emphasis on sports and culture, and because this school is small, each class typically only has 12 stud
