Windows XP Home Edition, like its name suggests it, was created for home use and not for enterprise network environment we have here on campus. The Biology Department has its own Microsoft Windows Active Directory Domain and is part of the campus-wide UNC Active Directory Parent Domain. For us to be able to add your computer to this domain, it has to have Windows XP Professional Edition, because only this version has this capability.
