Check your system for the presence of PCMCIA Card and Socket Services (CSS). If there is no audible “Beep” or “Double beep” tone, when you insert or remove the modem, you may not have CSS installed. In order for your modem to be recognized in the system, CSS drivers must be installed. The CSS drivers are required to configure the system’s PCMCIA slot and assign the modem to a Com port. Check with your laptop manufacturer or the system manual on how to install CSS.
