Several people buy wild animals to poachers so they can bring these animals home as pets. Parrots, monkeys, margays, etc. are the most popular ones. Their new owners think that having an exotic pet is fun or a symbol of luxury. It is very sad to see these animals end up caged when they grow up or become more dangerous. Animals that need special care end up in a small cage, undernourished and in poor conditions. The food cost prompts the owner to simplify the diet, and after some time, the animal falls sick and might even die. In other cases, the owners decide to donate the animal. This cycle only helps in destroying the animals’ habitat and natural population levels. In order to prevent this deadly cycle, we prefer not to receive donations. However, if you find a wild animal on your property, or if you rescued an injured animal, we will gladly accept your donation. In order to accept donations, you need to have properly filled paperwork and authorization from CONAP. Let’s leave animals
