I have used 3 tablets of 50mg of clomid over three days, I just found out in the same week that I am about 6 weeks pregnant. Can this deform or cause birth defects on my baby?
On July 2, 2008, scientists from the CDC reported on the results of the National Birth Defects Prevention Study, in which they evaluated the birth defect risk of Clomid (clomiphene citrate). They found that use of this drug was associated with a 170% increased risk of being born without a brain (anencephaly) and a 140% increased risk of being born without limbs (transverse limb deficiencies), along with other birth defects. This is just one of several epidemiology studies extending back over 25 years in which they found an increased risk of birth defects associated with use of Clomid. Along with Clomid’s ability to induce ovulation, it also impairs the body’s ability to produce cholesterol – it is a cholesterol-reducing drug similar to statins (i.e., Lipitor, Pravachol, etc.). And because of its long half-life, it is present during the embryonic period when organs are being formed. This is of critical importance because cholesterol is a vital ingredient to the proper formation of organ
