Paraprofessionals who are not in job titles that are affected by NCLB but wish to obtain one of those positions will have to meet the standard in order to apply. Upon completing one of the ways a paraprofessional can be deemed highly qualified, they can apply for the paraprofessional approval with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
