I have some handwritten paper documents that I want to scan and convert: can I use MyScript Studio for this?
No. This is because of the fundamental difference between OCR/ICR and MyScript recognition. There are 2 main ways to recognize writing: OCR and dynamic recognition, which is used by MyScript Notes. Traditional OCR (Optical Character Recognition) works with bitmap images from scanned documents. When the source is handwriting, this is known as ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition). These images contain no information about how the text was written, only a visual representation. On the other hand, MyScript is designed to recognize writing captured by a digital pen, or a writing capture device or a graphics tablet. These devices gather information on how the text was written and this information is used for text recognition. There is no scanning process or images involved. MyScript is not OCR. The source data is not the same and the recognition algorithms are also different. Our MyScript recognition system is incompatible with OCR type recognition.
