I have seen two values for the solar year ie 365.2422 days and 365.2563 days. Why are there two different values?
One value (the lesser one) is the average solar tropical year – this is the time taken for the Sun to return to the same position in the precessing tropical zodiac. The other value (the larger one) is the average solar sidereal year – this is the time taken for the sun to return to the same position relative to the stars.
