I have seen some Hoover vacuums with model numbers that are unlike the usual numbers, for example, U53019RM and U54219RM. Why are they different, and what do they mean?

The “RM” indicates that the cleaner was ‘remanufactured’. The cleaner was returned and bought by an outside source. They check the cleaner for quality and add any parts necessary to restore the cleaner. The cleaner is sold at a reduced cost. The U53019RM was originally sold as U5395950 and the U54219RM was originally sold as U5465950. Both of these are WindTunnel Units, differences are the U5465950 has 15″ wide cleaning path, switch on the handle, 35 ft. cord, and the DirtFinder feature, the other includes a second longer hose.
