I have responded to and/or applied for several domestic positions, but have yet to be hired. What has gone wrong?
You may be passed up for any number of reasons. Each family is unique, as is their search and hiring criteria. Perhaps this would be an ideal time to review your material. Is your resume professional and easy to understand? Is your wage goal reflective of current trends and industry averages? Do you have the experience to back up your proclaimed skill set? This is a very competitive industry. The best piece of advice we can give you is to be yourself. You may grow as a professional and learn new things, but don’t pretend to be someone you’re not – no one will gain from this in the long run. Be persistent and remain professional. Use all your resources and learn from every experience.
