I have received numerous recorded telephone calls from candidates urging me to vote for them. Can the Commission stop these calls?
No. The Florida Election Code does not prohibit a telephone call supporting or opposing a candidate. It only requires that the telephone call include a disclaimer stating who paid for the call and prohibits the caller from falsely implying that she represents an organization. If the telephone call does not include a disclaimer or contains a false implication, a complaint may be filed with the Commission.
