I have received a new Subscriber ID and have attempted to use a new Windows Live ID, but I am never prompted to enter a Subscriber ID and other information for validation. Why?
This would happen if you are using Windows XP and have opted to associate your Windows Live ID with your user credentials. To verify whether you have selected this option:Go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts. Select the Advanced tab and select Manage Windows Live IDs. If you see an entry similar to “Windows Live ID.Net\*(Windows Live ID),”your Windows Live ID is associated with your user credentials. To remove the association of your user credentials with your Windows Live ID: Click “Windows Live ID.Net\*(Windows Live ID)” and click Remove. Click OK. Removing the association will allow different Windows Live IDs to be used on the same machine. When you sign in to the TechNet Web site after removing the association between your Windows Live ID and user credentials, you may be prompted to enter a Microsoft.com key. Please refer to your Windows Live ID’s e-mail inbox to obtain the appropriate key.
