I have read that wolfdogs can be confused, aggressive, and unpredictable. Is that true?
First of all, a wolf/dog mix is no more confused about its identity than is a begal/poodle mix. Wolves and dogs are extremely closely related, though to most people they may still seem worlds apart. Wolves and dogs differ primarily in the intensity of their behaviors (wolf behavior is much more intense than those same behaviors in most dogs). Mixing a wolf and a dog gives you an animal with behavior intensity somewhere in the middle (think of it like a scale). There is no “wolf half” and “dog half” in a wolfdog. As far as being unpredictable, aggressive monsters, this is just a myth. Like with any species or breed, there will always be those that turn out aggressive due to poor breeding or bad upbringing, but most wolfdogs are quite safe in the right home.
