I have read about something called drusen. What exactly is drusen?
Drusen is the name of the damaged spots in the macula. A drusen is a yellowish spot that forms indicating that there is an area of damage. Sunlight is particularly harmful to the retina and can cause drusen. Both lutein and zeaxanthin help filter out the most harmful ultraviolet blue spectrum of sunlight. This helps reduce additional damage.
