for all you fighting with the independent contractor and employer tryiong to make you pay all the taxers instead of half there is a form created last year just for that purpose. the SS-8 will get the ball rolling and caqn be printed from the irs website. It anwsered questions in black and white from the IRS website that were easy to follow and the only bumer is it can take up tp 6 months for a determination but for me it was worth it…. arevise of 3200 owed ….and helped me get unemployment which i wouldnt have been able to as an independent contractor…..research form SS-8….promise it’s worth it….

employers have until 2/2/09 to get them to you. An employer could probably get penalized although I’ve never heard of it happening. If you do not get by 2/4 (give the slow mail a chance) and if you have your final paystub, you can do a substitute W2. Be sure to mail to Social Security Admin so you get credited for your pay.

It is probably just slow in arriving. I have not gotten mine yet either. However, you better know what type employement basis you are on with that employer. If he considers you an hourly/independent/contractor type employee he may not be doing any withholding for you, or paying payroll taxes for your or anything else! Don’t laugh, I have seen the happen before. Employees being duped by employers. Some of this is illegal for them, but they do it anyway and are very hard to catch.
