I have Lotus Domino software installed on machines used only for emergency backup. Must I have licenses equivalent to the total processor value units for those machines as well?
A. If the Lotus Domino server software is installed on a machine for emergency backup purposes only and either (1) has not been started (cold backup) or (2) started but sitting idle (warm backup) and not doing work of any kind, there is no requirement to pay a license charge. Note that a scheduled hardware outage, such as preventive maintenance, installation of upgrades, or switching to a larger capacity machine during peak periods, is not considered a backup situation.
