Congrats on your new sod. Consider that a machine ran over it to get it to you, it was rolled up and transported from a farm, and the people that laid it had to walk on it to put it in place. If you had it professionally installed they would have used a roller to establish the soil contact and soaked it afterwards. If you had it installed check with the company to find out if they pretreated the soil with any fertilizer. If you installed it try to remember if you added any fert before the operation. This can be key to the success. If the answer is no, purchase a granular 10-10-10 with mineral fertilizer for application in about three weeks. For the first two weeks water the turf at two inches per week. Water it with a sprinkler for uniform coverage (if you do not have an irrigation system). Measure the sprinkler output with a cup or pan at the edge of the sprinkler’s swath pattern to find out the amount of water per minutes of use. Always water in the morning when possible.
