I have heard rumours of sexual rapes on campus, why haven we been informed of this rapist?
Sexual assault is defined as any unwanted act of a sexual nature imposed by one person upon another. The Criminal Code definition of sexual assault includes a number of acts ranging from unwanted sexual touching, to sexual violence resulting in wounding, maiming or endangering the life of the victim. In all of 2006, Security Services received reports of three sexual assaults on the campus. In all three of these reported cases, the “rapist” or suspect was identified, and in each case it was a different person. All reported cases are investigated fully in cooperation with Hamilton Police Services. If at anytime there are any similarities or pattern of behaviour in cases the McMaster Community would be advised as a Mac Alert would be issued. A Mac Alert is a campus wide bulletin issued to the campus via email and posters altering to any major event that the campus needs to be aware of.
