I have heard about the HRD (Applied Psychology) Option for psychology majors and think it might be right for me. How do I go about starting NCSU as an HRD major?
Students cannot begin their careers at NCSU as HRD option majors. All psychology majors begin NCSU as General Option majors. The HRD option (recently renamed the Applied Psychology option) is one that students must apply to during the Spring semester of their sophomore or junior years. The HRD program coordinator, Dr. Pamela Martin, offers informational meetings about the HRD program at the beginning of the Spring semester. During these meetings, students will learn about the program and have an opportunity to ask questions to help them identify whether the HRD program is the right option for them. The psychology advising handbooks, The Compleat Advisor, offers a frequently asked questions section about the Applied Psychology option. Applications for the HRD option will then be made available to students and must be submitted by the deadline, usually in March or April.
