I have found a home I like and think I will use a Valuer before I make an offer. Should I inform the Selling Agent I will be using a Valuer?
A. If you feel you should, go ahead but it is NOT NECESSARY. Find a Valuer and advise them you wish to remain anonymous to the agent. This is a very good strategy, as it keeps the agent guessing, and they wont be aware that you are planning to get serious on this one! The Valuer simply arranges an inspection with the selling agent on behalf of a Prospective Purchaser. With the valuation in hand, you can then make an offer with confidence. Remember the saying Knowledge is Power.
