I have extra trash, what are the options?
If you have more trash each week than will fit in your green trash cart, then you will need to sign up for an extra cart at a cost of $11.02 per month (price as of 3/1/08). Before ordering an extra cart, though, make sure you are recycling everything you can. By recycling, you will make more space in your green trash can for other items that really need to go to the landfill. Remember, you can recycle all clean, dry papers, including cardboard boxes, junk mail, cereal type boxes, newspapers, magazines, etc. You also can recycle all empty glass and plastic bottles and jars, and any empty aluminum or tin cans. You will find that much (if not most) of what comes out of your house can actually go in the blue recycling barrel. To encourage recycling, the City offers an additional recycling barrel at no charge. Additional recycling barrels (after the first extra) cost only $1.30 per month.
