I have done a duplicate search. Can I somehow automatically select the oldest files so that only one file is left alone and the duplicates are removed?

Yes. After you have used the duplicate search a “smart selection” feature appears to the Select menu. With Smart Selection you can select files based on them last accessed date or the last modified date.
