I assume you mean: wirelessly. It depends completely on your printer. Is the printer a network (internet) printer connected to the router, or is it a printer connected to the PC with a USB cable? If it’s a network printer (which frankly is unlikely; they’re generally much more expensive and not for home use), then it’s easy – you tell your laptop to configure the network printer, and zoom, away you go. If it’s a USB or otherwise cabled to your desktop, then you can’t go directly; you will either hve to put the document on a thumb drive, or attach the printer cable to the back of the laptop.

I do it all the time. As long as your laptop in on the network you just go into your printer properties and turn on Printer sharing. On your desktop machine (In Windows XP) that’s at: Start/Control Panel/Printers and Faxes/ You’ll get a list of installed printers (or just one in your case). Right Click your mouse on the printer and select “sharing” from the menu. Then click the box that says “Share This Printer” and then OK. After that when you try to print from the laptop you should see your desktop printer as an option and you’ll be able to print to that.

All you have to do is share your printer. Right click the printer icon, select “sharing” and click on “Share this printer”. Assign a name for it. You will probably be able to see from your notebook. Hope that helps, ~ms www.owlready.
