There are many fungi and insects that can cause symptoms like these as well as some other issues. Contact your local Extension Office. They may ask you to bring in a sample for examination. The sample should consist of about an 8 inch by 8 inch piece of sod with 2 to 3 inches of soil beneath. The sample should also be taken from the edge of the affected area so that both healthy and disease grass are present.
