If you bought a DS5000 recorder then you can buy just a RS28 footpedal which can be plugged into the docking cradle to operate the recorder hands-free – though it will not work via the computer. NB This also the case for the Philips 9600 and Philips 9620 recorders where the Philips 2330 footpedal will do the same job. For all other Olympus and Philips recorders however, you have to buy a full transcription kit. The download (Player) software supplied with a digital recorder is for downloading purposes only and does not contain a driver for a footpedal.
