As a general rule, any red meat is a rich source of iron. There is also iron in pulses (such as lentils and beans), dried fruits, green leafy vegetables including all varieties of cabbage, broccoli and spinach, various nuts and seeds, and there is also iron added to some breakfast cereals. Iron in these foods is not as easily absorbed by the body as iron from red meat sources, but they are still a vital part of a healthy iron-rich diet. To increase iron absorption from non-meat sources, consume more vitamin C for example fruit juice, fruit and vegetables with your meals.
