I have an enhanced IDE card with two ports, but the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive is not being recognised when it is connected to the secondary port, why?
The secondary port of some enhanced IDE cards (eg. those using the CMD0640x chipset) is left unopened when the PC system is initially powered on. In these cases, the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM device driver will not be stable when the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive installed. To resolve the problem, install the device driver bundled with your enhanced IDE card to open the secondary port.
