The pressure after the PRV will be relatively constant and will only drop once the lead pump has begun to flow out considerably on its pump curve. By monitoring pressure prior to the PRV in an area where pressure changes as a result of where the pump is operating on its curve, Armstrongs booster systems will sequence the second pump on faster before the user(s) in the building notice a drop in pressure. The third pump in this system will be controlled by a pressure switch mounted in the discharge header. This pressure switch is located here because it is set at a lower pressure point and therefore, this is the best place for it to be located.
